Handmade with love at the refuge

All treats under the Hop To It Bunnies brand are hand made by Carolyn at the refuge.

Carolyn is passionate about nutrition for animals, as bad nutrition is a common source of health issues. Adapting nutrition can also alleviate health issues – from helping preventing gut blockage due to ingested fur to megacolon symptoms.

Here are some behind the scenes of making the treats!

  • Our Setups

    Our Setups

    Comfy And Safe

Our pens are approx. .8m x 2.4 (standard 8 panel pens) but can vary depending on shape & the  number of bunnies boarding together as a group.

    • All have washable/sterilisable linings to both sides of each pen to limit contact between pens, keeping it to a minimum & therefore any chance of injury or spread of unknown illness etc.
    • We also have bunny “First Aid” training for emergencies & fast access to emergency care. Training of First Aid has been carried out by our long time visiting Vet Dr Gloria Perkovic.

    Complimentary Hay Bag

Each pen has its own take home jute hay feeder bag & scratch board for enrichment as they can be chewed to your buns content & take home what’s left to continue destroying it.

    Fun Toys

With soft sterilisable flooring, rugs, toys & personal chew toys, your bun will enjoy all the comforts we can manage so you know that your buns will be in a clean fresh environment while here.

    Routine and Measures

    Feeding Routine

    • Morning hay top up and treat.
    • Late afternoon greens (mesclun mix or other age appropriate greens).
    • Late evening pellets.

This feeding routine helps pick up any possible stasis episodes quickly so we can deal with problems as fast as possible.

    Care Measures

To ensure your buns have the best possible care, we carry out the following.

    • Security camera (subtle overnight lighting helps camera vision).
    • Heating and cooling.
    • First Aid and fast Vet support.
